“As long as there is one man in chains, it is humanity that is chained”!!
The diagnosis of a mental illness can be quite overwhelming for every person, their family and friends. Often people feel alone, wondering if they will ever recover and what the future holds.
Although everyone’s experience is different even globally, it is often helpful to read other people’s stories. By sharing personal stories about living with a mental illness, we can thus increase our understanding, develop compassion and passion, show meekness and humility and reduce stigma and discrimination.
Our programs in Maryland have some success stories among people with mental illness. They also include individuals with a dual diagnosis of Intellectual disability and co-occurring Mental Illness. Please visit Featured Stories
